A strong decision maker is allowed to focus on the result.
Everyone else first has to focus on the consequences because it´s the consequences that deliver the result! List the uncertainties.
People say: Make sure of the impact your decisions have on the world! But before you can think of the world, your world is your company, and this goes first.
If you choose particularily, you are on your way to decide for something special. If you choose to try this and then that and think of what´s next, you rather play around. If this is your current state you need to educate in decision making. Some information is missing in your process! Consult the info you need on your own.
Look at your goal: make the choice that puts the greater good for you first. Get the frame first, it is your stability. Do the filling later.
Lets look at the stage of movie producers as a contrast: for movies, there´s the story first, it´s the script or the original book (traditional process). After searching and finding the exact matching location the producer chooses special movie-stars for her/his available characters. The producer has the greater good on the plate first. The audience is out there, definitely. But it´s not clear how big the piece of the pie will be. WHY? The audience! You need an audience for selling the product. And this audience is your customer platform. It´ll split once the movie stars step in thou´. Customers have favorites! We all have. BUT – this process is about producing a movie, a movie as a product to sell. It carries value. And you have to go and get it. Plus, the value must be on your latest purchase list.
This process probably won´t work for your company. You start with the potential product platform first to be seen. You have to make some noise! The audience is potentially out there but not tied to your company yet. They choose out of many. Your product is probably no star, not yet, it might become a star but that depends on the magic moment when the available audience thinks that everyone one them needs it. Now! And you better be first (!) with this new product.
You have no direct influence on the re-action of the audience. You are the one who produces, markets on social media and sells something: a new book, a meal in the downtown restaurant, a new apartment, a renovated house, a car, a boat, a Japanese Garden, fancy clothes, jewelry, spicy bread, a fruit cake, silver dishes, …. whatever it is that your audience will buy – it depends on their needs.
Be aware that you cannot copy processes from other branches in general, you´ll fail! You can only get advice from your own branch processes and its availability today or you may peek over the fence! Then try to get 1 step ahead of the others with whatever idea.
But distance delivers pressure: Think about – is your team ready for pressure? Is your story ready for pressure? You turn from being the hunter right away to the hunted. Are you ready to withstand pressure? …..over a longer period of time?
Pressure delivers new decision making challenges to your entry door, faster and stronger as before! ….so, are you ready to become the N° 1?
