What is it that weights on our shoulders when it comes to decision making?
Is it the owing overview of all involved parts and pieces? Do we shy away at first by thinking of all who are involved and …. well, how to react to the attacking arguments from concerned people? Are we trying to avoid a storm? Is it peoples openness that´s not around when change comes along and has to become the hard earned treasure?
Without waiting for your first comments on my website, I´d say YES – it´s a bit of all!
It´s the WORK that waits for “me”, isn´t it? The decision delivers a new complexity to handle, it does effect some people or departments, their studied habits and all this needs to be well organized. And it has to be well constructed because only then everyone can go on with their daily work. And it´s the work people do that produces the value to sell. We can not risk to interfere into the daily work structure because it could be blocked.
All that feels like an extra weight and decision making suddenly becomes a new load for us. But this is just the half PRICE! It is part of the price, of the cost we have to invest. The other half we are going to face of it is the treasure, the outcome, the profit! We won´t decide to change something if it is not about on-going or new profit and growth.
And this is the point where we have to implement a decision structure to make sure we won´t block the daily tasks and do as “little damage” as possible. So I am asking you today: do you sit down to write a decision portfolio which includes all involved parties? Do you take care of the daily tactical decisions which are the new “to-do´s” now?
Be sure that when you face change and you have to re-construct your running business, which runs like a powerful motor best case, you have to know which parts and pieces to take apart. Know which parts (employees/Dept.) shall keep running as a stable effect and make sure they will run.
After you have displayed this whole scenario for yourself and the involved team-leaders, start re-constructing the whole thing with the most effective decisions to gain new engine performance! ….more to come…. (Burberry effect)
BE A DECISION MAKER. BECOME OUTSTANDING.
