Re-Acting walks ahead of Deciding
Are you positive that you do decide consciously or did you lately face afterwards that you were just re-acting to a situation? Face it: a re-action causes some pain or lack of goal reaching and this makes us think!
We get back to the point in life where we think about how to reach our goal. We start thinking about a decision. Today, we live in abundance. Choices are everywhere now, all effortlessly trying to flatter our mind. They try to tempt or seduce us – on a personal level – to pick one of them.
And consciously deciding only shows up when all our present choices aren´t really attractive for us. We re-act to attraction. It pulls us over like a magnet. And we stay until we get what we want. The “wanting” then is the conscious decision. And we decide consciously, as a smart person, once we gathered a lot of information. The new must feel well for us.
So, we rather dicide about the unattractive. The pain producer. But once the number of options increases or even explodes, the potential choices will be mostly transformed from a positive experience (fun factor) to a more burden-character. And mostly at this point we stop making efficient decisions. And right here you have to be careful about what you will decide for. Cut the choices to a minimum!
To avoid further lack of goal reaching, we better sit down and check out chances. Chances which deliver our best outcome to avoid the pain we face. What we need to understand is the tipping point of when we stop reacting and instead think clear about the decision. TIP: include the consequences to your process! We always have to focus on the consequences because it´s them which will come up with our future choices and future (linked) decisions. We create a new direction to go and stay!
Imagine you leave your town or even your country to expand business. You look for a new area where you´ll be confronted with new opportunities, choices, challenges, decisions and consequences. Let me point out some easy to understand consequences for you in a new city: does your product fit in? Is there a lake instead of mountains? Ocean instead of crops? Warmer temperatures, no winter? A different style of houses? You will meet a different economy in a new country, which offers the opportunity of different jobs, which causes the attraction of different types of characters. Characters are also cut by special education and talent. And humans love to sort.
It shows up now that cities concentrate on a certain industry or trade which will automatically link to certain (sub)suppliers for their production, first place sales of products and services. Some countries didn´t take care of this culture-drive and have almost nothing to offer but historical monuments or a great tourist location, only.
Whatever power each city or country owns and developed by its culture over decades, it will grow into that direction and become strong. And that includes a clear direction for certain jobs. Monuments will attract tourists, painters, and photographers. An ocean side will attract relaxed people. The cities will need to offer their service to meet their visitors and isochronic customers needs. Ancient artifacts of the past “only” carry the character of a painting which in the end hangs at a wall of a Museum or ends up in an ad or postcard. A painting itself won´t grow its message, it´s fix for good. Yes, I talk about Europe.
At this point, a culture limits the options for you as a personality who wants to decide where you truly belong. You need to be where your business can survive and then grow. If you settle at a wrong place for good you might limit your opportunities for good. Today we have to decide about something different than our parents did. You have to decide where you belong. We decide about our future more than ever. And yes, the internet with its infinite opportunities is a backdoor to offer another chance. But that´s it.
I was working for a woldwide acting (producing and selling) company for many years. And it´s exactly the cultures which often didn´t meet the companies needs. A relaxed personality at an ocean side won´t go crazy for extraordinary productiveness. We always had big challenges with the production plants which were spread widely within Europe. We were facing extraordinary different mentalities. And this effects decisions of a Headquarter and the linked consequences. Unfortunately you can´t change a culture with some trainings over a short period of time (1-2 years).
Take this today with you: if you decide about something big and tough, list all the consequences it will bring. Meet the challenges upfront, be prepared, talk about it with all relevant leaders, because when you decide for the big you want to keep going into that new direction. You can´t decide for the luck it may bring for your project but you are able to well prepare for a lasting great decision.
BE A DECISION MAKER. BECOME OUTSTANDING.
