Quick Decision Making Triggers Productivity!
Have you ever wondered why some teams, why some companies and why some trades or industries keep growing steadily while others seem to rest and stagnate?
Of course those companies follow a clear direction, they have a mission statement for orientation and they set productive goals to reach! And the next thing in this row of a mental process is their decision making ability.
- Decisive people and teams act, they don´t re-act
- Decisive people and teams solve problems and deliver solutions
- Decisive people and teams are more productive
One main thing for decision making is a criteria list! A criterion, which is a “must-have” is a typical characteristic of choice. Without this fine line of “fitting” and “misfit” nobody can take a clear decision.
Which criteria come to your mind now?
If you work for the Economy, say for the HR dept., you probably need to fill a gap in a department and therefore have to define the profile of the new staff member. If that´s your challenge, you need to match the potential education, work experience and talent with the internal demand. The relevant Education/Degree and the individual´s talents are the 2 main criteria. Next you´ll be more specific about the work experience you need. With these lines you set a fence to get your best prospect!
>> If this is your job, setting clear criteria helps inviting the ideal prospects for the interviews!
Science for example, is using criteria when examining a cause & effect. They also use criteria for the configuration of test series for a reasonable use. Numbers relate to something like age or speed, width or weight. Any test will start at some point and ends at another. The criteria they use is for setting these 2 points and to fill the middle part for orientation to get results. This is important for doctors when taking the regular blood count or when offering the individual cancer treatment dosis.
>> If this is your job, you set a range of numbers to keep risks out for reaching suitable results.
For the Decision Making Theory, setting and using relevant criteria is a method for filtering the necessary efficiency. Also, weighting alternatives with one another needs criteria to help defining the single valutation of each alternative with the goal to find the best match. With each single valuation the choosing person gets a clear picture of what each alternative means in the long-run.
>> If this is your job right now, make sure to use the 8 component model which helps considering all the criteria you need to reach the ideal fit for you or your team to reach the GOAL. This takes a little time, because each component comes up with a single criteria-list itself. They all together form the big picture of each alternative which helps choosing.
Your take-away today:
Criteria determines DIVERSITY! It´s relevant for a classification and this method helps making good and quick decisions.
The more often you make decisions, always taking a deeper look at how you do it, the faster you´ll think about the criteria. This makes you quick! MY TIP : train yourself! Start slow and take time if the situation allows to, to look at each decision process component. The more you train yourself the faster and more secure you turn. It´s like in sports! Understand how it works and then use it, talk about it, discuss it! All this leads to better decision making which triggers the productivity!
If the goal is not your part, make sure to always know where the company you work for heads to. If it´s your own biz, always have goals and communicate them to trigger productivity. Nobody can make fast and good decisions if there is no exact goal. Therefore: be informed!
ASK for this info and find the ideal way to get there and decide to go. Trigger your productivity!
BE A DECISION MAKER. BECOME OUTSTANDING.
