Today me and my coach we were discussing my past career decisions in life. As for so many out there, even I started on a path which wasn´t ideal for me because the actual start from home did not support my full talents and wishes. Sounds familiar? My goal was something different than I started with. And of course I did it halfheartedly and never found myself really integrated.
Lets reflect a bit today!
As a result over time, not every new movement led me UP the staircase I saw in front of me, some decisions first took me down to the basement, maybe just to get a better view UP again?! Down there in the foyer are less ceilings and I made it UP again! Often supported.
I started well educated but unprepared, actually ready for university but not supported/allowed to go, enjoyed a year abroad, entering an international company, choosing 5 different enriching jobs w/in 11 years, changing within, learning a lot, doing 3 diff. tasks …. but then slowly becoming a little fish within a younger pool of high class fish. In the end I felt like a polliwog and suddenly the Dept. was sold.
New decisions ahead, already waving at me!
One thing is for sure: if we decide to go somewhere and be somewhere where we think we rather belong than where we are, we will get there. For some it takes longer and some of us get along faster, supported by their peers and friends. No support – no speed. Fact! To move on in life, we need a running system.
Decisions are always around. Smaller ones or bigger ones, many and a few – we can´t turn away from it. What about your past career decisions? How often did you re-act and how often did you decide actively? Say, how often have you been supported to move UP your staircase? Please feel free to leave a comment –
BE A DECISION MAKER. BE OUTSTANDING.
