No Way!
Just yesterday I was reading the following sentence in a book:
The major learning vehicles are observation and practice!
Absolutely!
But: are we ever observants of other people preparing, discussing and making decisions? Are we active listeners of their decision processes? Guess the answer clearly is – NO, we aren´t. Or seldom.
Which explains why we probably aren´t crazy for practicing our decision making ability?!?
As kids, our parents made the major decisions, also to keep us safe in our environment and to keep their daily life running. I can´t remember that I ever was a witness of their decision making. In fact, I received their decision results.
Are we blocked when it comes to make decisions?
Or are we rather lazy to think it all through because we´re not trained?
What´s your opinion?
In fact, it doesn´t make much sense to decide for something which isn´t prepared to happen!
How frustrating could it be to work towards a goal which isn´t installed and able to survive in the current environment in which we live? The only chance for a new goal to “get installed” is that it makes sense for others or when it even supports other peoples life!
There´s got to be a decision secret in this world which makes a goal come true, don´t you agree?
The moment we decide to improve other peoples life, the environment starts working towards our goal. There is a rule in our civilization which supports our decisions! The result has to make sense to many others! It has to improve lives of many others or maybe once, for only one single person.
Let´s turn to the connection of my introduction:
the major learning vehicle is our observation! This secret works because the environment is able to LISTEN and/or VIEW our decision plan! Means: it can be observed and evaluated, and then it´s up to someone who turns into the boss and decides to click to the personal decision from the crowd. The direction here is – from the outside to the inside. It´s that easy! Outside, in.
Now, why doesn´t it work vice versa?
Why do we need an observant or listener from the outside to make our decision alternative and potential result come true? Why is it therefore impossible to decide for ourselves and make it work from the inside out?
The reason is: it´s got to be 2 for Tango!
One single decider cannot act on 2 stages. Unless: the impulse to make a decision comes from the outside, with the aim to move someone in a certain inside. That´s part of Leadership!
The trouble with our single ideas and decisions might be that we rarely know from the inside, what the outside market NEEDS right now or in a few months. This particular lack of information sure kills some of our ideas, tries and potential decisions!
Next time you work on something BIG, on a goal, on a great idea, find the connection to someone who NEEDS the decision result! This is your partner for TANGO! It takes TANGO to make a decision result come true.
Make the best of it, keep dancing from the inside out – otherwise, there´s no way!
BE A DECISION MAKER. BECOME OUTSTANDING.
