In my Blog-post from Sept. 7th, feel free to check it out http://ritajaskolla.com/when-others-close-the-next-door-in-front-of-you/ I wrote about the need of a direction. We can not only speed up to one certain door we focussed on for months or years and when this door closes, we´re lost. That´s ineffective!
Deciders need a direction –
We decide naturally by listening to our gut, and our brain sometimes leads our decisions by short-term emotion – if it´s just about us. The moment we weight chances rationally, mostly the cost factor (time or money) is involved. But the basics of it all are our values. Our values are the headline of what we will allow ourselves to say and to do when we live, work and decide.
A company wrappes their values in a mission statement. That´s the headline for the key accounts and employees. Let´s look at some values and at parts of a mission statement:
Personal values: freedom, honesty, consciousness, honor, influence, joy, leadership, faith, cooperation, perfection, ingenuity…..
Company values: quality, environment protection, product knowledge, innovation, customer-service, operational excellence….
Mission statements will include: …..to be the most respected global….. help customers to step up to a better, more secure future…..we will provide value….. we are results-oriented
This is a direction.
This is what leads us.
This is what leads a company.
But still it doesn´t say whether we´re a giver-, a taker- or a matcher-mentality. These three different mentalities also influence our decisions and our decision making. Find out more in my next blog-post….
BE A DECISION MAKER. BE OUTSTANDING.
