Mental Isolation
Decisions are a tool, a link, a car, a ship or an airplane to help us move from A –> way over to –> B –> or is it even Z where we plan to arrive? Depends on how BIG your dream is.
Everyone you talk to about your BIG dream in life gives you the advice that you may first cut your BIG dream into smaller pieces, called “sub-goals”. This advice includes the mental strategy that each sub-goal will be reached by a certain strong decision which delivers consequences. A goal itself is not reachable until you take the decision to reach this goal. And a decision includes several action steps – called consequences – to reach and fulfill the goal:
- for losing weight, you decide to diet and that means your food strategy (grocery and cooking) differs from now on for a long period of time and will change afterwards to keep the new result
- For offering the local delivery of your products yourself you decide to add a small logistic dept.: this may include 3 mini-taxi or 2 mini-vans and only 1 additional driver, which asks for a financial calculation, purchasing the cars and hiring staff
It´s nothing different than going to school again. But this time we send ourselves to school to reach our own goals. It is no must from the Government or our parents anymore, no, it is a simple must “TO DO” something to be able to reach a goal or dream. This is THE survival or growth strategy which is always escorting us in life.
I am blogging about decisions since months more than 1 year by now, and there are many aspects where decisions show up in life. But the decision process itself is always the same abstract example: dream, goal, sub-goals, action: DO IT 2 get there. Arrival. Fact.
Now, I kept on asking myself – why do some people arrive, why do some never arrive and why do some just get close to their goal and dream? Why is there Black & White and a Grey-zone?
The abstract is the same. The motivation is the same. The “waving at us” goal is there, strong or less strong it is still pulling our full attention towards it, but WHAT is the competition-factor that keeps goal-reachers away from their own finish line?
I already discussed that strong deciders have to say “No!” 99 times to the waving alternatives and give their one and only “Yes (my dear)” to the dream and goal they chose. But all this still is completely abstract!!!!!!!!! It´s just a plan and process. It´s not alive yet –
The competition-factor seems to be “alive”. It´s waiting to kill your goals the minute you talk about it officially. Unless you have great supportive friends you talk to or unless you belong to a great sports group and you share your training hours. TRUST is your best friend, it´s the keeper of your dream and your action steps. But trust isn´t escorting you outside all the way down the aisle to your deam. There is no aisle outside in life! Life doesn´t isolate your action steps. Opposite: life absorbs your actions steps.
So there´s one more secret to keep in mind and follow-on once you took a decision – which is my personal secret formula – keep the decision mentally isolated! And then just go for the action steps.
BE A DECISION MAKER. BECOME OUTSTANDING.
