Was there a set-back lately in your life? Did it knock you off your feet? Did this happen more often in the past 2-3 years?
Do not underestimate setbacks and negative emotional experience. They all work hand in hand with your resilience factor. And resilience is the inner friend who is judging the alternatives you are choosing for the next decision.
Jane was receiving a note from her assistant to call someone with the name “x”. She had no idea what the issue was about so she couldn´t prepare any arguments or even a baseline. And she called. And was connected to a customer who was furious. She listened to his challenge and then focussed only on the facts. She erased any emotional harm which could block her judgemental abilities she now needed badly. She had to deal with several business set-backs lately.
The moment she repeated his issue with her own words (summary) she managed “to move him” next to her, abstractly of course. Like 2 figures on a chessboard. She turned the frontal scene into a partnering scene. The moment she didn´t react emotionally but only choose to pick the facts, he immediately caught trust in her. She added what he needed to hear, she spoke his language with relevant facts and the need to solve his problem.
Communication! Concentration! Discipline. Make sure that you only communicate with facts when you approach your decision making process to solve problems. This way you win your sparring-partners real fast!
BE A DECISION MAKER. BECOME OUTSTANDING.
