Grouping Your Information
Often, deciding is a complex task!
Therefore, take time to make the items of your challenge or problem visible:
brainstorm yourself or with the team and gather all information as a first step. Everyone who´s involved knows their part, as you do. Ask for the information!
As a next step:
group the information!
In terms of more than 5 TO-DO´s to delegate you may group the items as single lists:
CALL external MEET internal CONNECT with new partners
Company: names……. Name, date: Events: names…… (sign-up)
–> You may write this on a Whiteboard (!)
In terms of finding a PRODUCT DEFECT or blockage in a running process, group it via the 5M:
HUMAN MACHINE METHOD / PROCEDURE
people at interfaces position A, D, F classification, scale/measure
MATERIAL ENVIRONMENT
goods receipt (?), self-production light, temperature, noise, ventilation
–> You may type it in Powerpoint or Excel and share it with all involved people (!)
In terms of a personal matter, like a JOB LOSS, you may ask yourself WHAT or WHO else is involved and how to react best to it:
MARKET / TREND INTERESTS / TALENT
For who is the market calling for? What do you love doing most?
What´s the trend like for 2020? Which talents do you offer?
EXPERIENCE BUDGET / TIME
What did you do in the past?
US $ or EUR available….,
What can you Link to the trend? X months or X years for a new investment.
–> You may write it on a flipchart or on 2-3 whiteboards (!)
Talking about challenges or discussing problems with the team might be an easy and quick method but the moment you part, a few will forget ALL their tasks and even you might loose sight of all your to-do´s ….. ever experienced this? Do you remember last time, after the discussion….. ?
Therefore make sure to make the information visible. For everyone! Group the information. Group them via people, via events, via influence of the work environment, via the market trend or via your job experiences. Your eyes need a picture for your brain to remember –
BE A DECISION MAKER. BECOME OUTSTANDING.
