Be A Domino
Last Sunday I wrote about the Domino-effect: domino and I suggested to stop the potential domino-effect with a clear decision, when you know you´re the next in line, to fall. It´s a strategic move!
This week, I´d like to focus on the other side, to the people who don´t live in a running system by Government and who have to make decisions because there´s lack of common leadership and more room for freedom. If you live in such a country you might need to act as a domino yourself to start a potential domino-effect, to give an impulse and get something going, strategically.
Decision Making is part of the Leadership Basics and it´s actually a METHOD, a method for solving problems or challenges. Personally, I am no fan of NOT making any decisions myself, like staying passive in my life, waiting for others or coincidents to decide about me and my life path – no. What about you? When do you start deciding? At which moment ….. When you´re already in pain? Or right when you face chances or consequences which will enlighten or burden your daily life, creating energy-sucking or energy-developing situations?
Active decisions are a method for a go-on and giving an impulse like a domino (standing-up) is an activity you will better choose! Both triggers your motivation, both strategic moves might back you up, because there will be no one to blame. When you´re free of revenge you live a more relaxed life than others do.
Let me give you some EXAMPLES:
Losing weight…..
You decide how fast you start and go-on with a diet: you can be very disciplined to get a fast result or you allow yourself 1 day (within 2 weeks) with regular food to not fall into a sudden hunger or certain appetite for spice during the month-long path of losing pounds/kilos for good.
Your teenage kid or you yourself have to learn for an exam,
there´s a limited time-frame…..
You decide whether to set-up a schedule/daily plan to discipline yourself and learn by following a schedule or whether you act disciplined, making active decisions every day when to sit down and learn and when to stop and go-on. Same with your kid. Be sure it´s up to you when you fail or when you pass the exam or test! You chose to do this exam, it must have been your decision.
Joining a (sports)club to engage with a new group…..
You decide how often you will go there and which goal you are following when joining the club. If you go there every week you have to let go of something else. You decide what to quit! If you just go once per month you might not need to change anything in your life. It´s up to you and your decision what you will change!
At work as an employee you think about applying for a new job, but……
You´re not sure whether to wait for the next chance because you´re safe or apply today, jumping on this great offer rather unexpected and unprepared, pulling new consequences into your life. It´s a decision to post-pone and forget about the potential chance or to apply, and do your best – ad hoc, with the risk of failing due to lack of professionalism with the quick application and interview. What will you regret more? And who´s to blame in the end?
BE A DECISION MAKER. BECOME OUTSTANDING.
