As a decider, you pick a topic for improvement. There is always something to improve! As an entrepreneur you need to improve, permanently. But you won´t do it with all divisions or areas at once. You can´t by the way. And because you can´t, there´s a rule to follow to keep up with the companies challenges.
The challenges you daily face are:
- improve of productivity, – of quality
- develop team leaders, – new products/services
- be more responsive to customers and be more innovative
- reduce costs
- increase process efficiencies
Above you find eight aspects you are dealing with. There will be one item you plan to improve, only one at a time, best case. That means you need to run certain decisions on this one area but you can´t neglect everything else. As a decider we say “yes” to 1 thing, and we say about 99 times “no” to everything else (alternatives, opinions, etc.).
As a consequence and rule of thumb you should focus and guide eight times as many decisions on the chosen item than on the one which is opposite of it. Example: if you focus on innovation, you will care 8 times MORE for decisions on innovation than you do on reducing costs.
If you plan to develop team leaders than you care 8 times less about developing new products or services. Developing team leaders mostly automatically increases the improvement of process efficiency as a consequence. BTW: the numbers relate to the collectivity of items.
BE A DECISION MAKER. BE OUTSTANDING.
